Pew Pew Explosions

I hate social media, if it wasn't for my work and friends, I know I would've bought a brick phone (or, like a certain member of my family; go off the grid.) Ironically NG is one of the few socials I feel comfortable using, which is why I like putting updates here.

I've had a lot of things happen since I last updated on here, so I thought I'd write another update :P

Music

A lot of the songs on 'Album2' have been written and have had demos recorded, although due to several technichal issues, there is a slight delay. It also doesn't help that I've had a few months of writer's block. When I left my last relationship, my brain went completely numb, and I tried to block out most of the memories so I could temporarily live a single life. Because of the 'seriousness' and 'severeness' of said relationship, I was blackmailed into going to counseling, which I haven't started yet, but unfortunately I'll have to go at some point. The things my ex has done since our seperation hasn't helped either.

I never like announcing anything publicly cuz I can never guarantee a release date, but I hope to release my next single on St. Piran's Day, and if I don't, I will eat my words.

Animations

As I mentioned in my last post, a few music videos I'm making for my second album have some incorporation of animation, with one of them being fully animated. I'm intending on uploading parts of the animated segments here. In terms of other animated projects, things will just happen when they happen. I have a lot of silly ideas that could end up being shorts, but lack of enthusiasm and being a massive workaholic has been my enemy. I've also been insanely busy with other work, so that's that.

Other

As for other projects, I dunno. I've had thoughts about potentially making a silly tie-in game to one of the videos, you'll get it when you see it.

Hi, I know it's been a while, but I thought I'd give a short update on everything that's been going on since I last made a blog post.

In April, I released 'Birds of Prey', the first single from my forthcoming second album, which you can stream here and here. I initially intended for the video to be live-action, however after drawing the cover art, I had a splash of inspiration. Because of the high ambition behind this, I decided to use BOP as my final student project. I managed to finish most of the animation last week, but the video needs more finishing touches before I can release it to the public, but I'm aiming for a mid-June release at the earliest. Either way, it'll be on newgrounds before anywhere else.

I might have mentioned this before, but my second album (which I publicly refer to as Album2), is very personal, and is meant to be an open letter to several people in my past and present. I had a bit of trouble for a while putting these feelings into words, but I've finally come to a point where I've written 12 tracks (and even more, which can be used as b-sides), and I have finally nailed down the aesthetic and feel I want the album to have. There are hints to this aesthetic on the art for BOP. I've also had a lot of really shitty things happen in my personal life, which has strengthened my drive to finish the album.

Sorry for this update being so short, but just wanted to announce a few things to show I'm not dead!

So yeah, I'm back.

What happened?

I got hired to work on Planet-Shite in '18, which cut down my time on working on personal projects (which I didn't mind, as working on P-S was earning me quite some money.)

My laptop broke the same year in May, and because of this, most of my friendships (both online and offline) changed drastically, and I lost contact with my friends. I also 'left' DA in '19 after becoming fed up with the changes being made (i.e., eclipse), and just generally feeling that my relevance had run its course. My tumblr followed suit. Both of these accounts are still up for archival purposes, and for the off-chance that I feel I want to use them again.

I released my first album in December 2020 to no success (minus a few people who bought CDs and the brief moment where Two Dots went viral), but either way I was proud. It was the first collection of songs I had created without the involvement of Hitfactory (minus Do You Wanna Know, which they helped out with), Matt produced and mixed all the other songs, having to learn bass in the process!

After feeling a ton of guilt and heavy consideration I sent out several messages to those I was close to (online and offline), essentially apologising for my shitty behaviour.

I parted ways with Hitfactory in May '21 after being given an exciting offer for a different position in another place. The split was hard, however it was good to have a change.

Throughout '21-22 I was continuing to work on Planet-Shite and my other work simultaneously, which was tough, and dragged me away from working on music for a certain period of time.

While working on a project recently however, I logged back into NG to play a few games and rediscovered my love for the site.

What's next?

I'm hoping to release my second album around August time! It's themed around my past relationships and other fuck-ups (which includes my hectic digital footprint), as well as being my way of responding to claims about me which have circulated in the press for quite some time. Similar to the messages I sent out in '21, some of these tracks are also meant to serve as an apology for those who didn't get my paragraphs.

Four music videos will be released for four tracks, including a bonus regal-themed single. Another video for one of the Sidney tracks will be out soon, too.
